In a powerful address delivered at the Kwania Resort Hotel in Aduku, the Rt. Rev. Julius Ceaser Nina Otim, Bishop of West Lango, called upon men to put an end to corruption in their homes and to foster an environment of peace and integrity. Highlighting the omnipresence of corruption, Bishop Nina pointed out that unchecked desires can lead individuals to wrongdoings, even within the sacred confines of places of worship.
Bishop Nina emphasized the necessity of spreading the gospel as a means to shed light on the goodness of Jesus Christ, urging the community to allow these teachings to guide their actions and behavior. He stressed that true faith should translate into personal conduct and ethical decision-making, both inside the church and at home.
During the gathering, Ret. Rev. Capt. Ecau Omara Ejon, Archdeacon, reinforced Bishop Nina’s message by challenging Ugandans to participate in constructive dialogue, abstaining from corrupt practices such as land trafficking and illegal immigration. His remarks underscored the crucial role of honesty and transparency in fostering societal harmony.
Rev. Ven. Ben Robert Okello, Archdeacon of Agago Archdeaconry and Diocesan Mission Coordinator, reflected on the significance of the retreat, which convenes men six times during the season. He noted that these gatherings play a vital role in strengthening communal bonds and encouraging reflection on the essence of human life and integrity.
Alfred Gilibo, an educator at the Madi-West Nile Regional School in Koboko, South Sudan, shared his experiences as a member of the men’s union since 2015. He expressed optimism that this year’s retreat would enhance his faith and cultural understanding, recalling the resilience instilled in him by his father.
Additionally, Jawoko Jimmy Owiny from the Prophet’s Church in both the DRC and Uganda conveyed how deeply resonant the teachings were for him. He conveyed his intention to return and share the insights gained alongside the Archdeaconry, highlighting the importance of imparting wisdom and promoting ethical living within their communities.

Bishop Nina’s call to action serves as a poignant reminder that the fight against corruption must begin at home, creating a foundation for a more just and peaceful society.
