ArakOyeo-Gweng swears in new clan head (Awitong)and other leaders

The clan leader (Awitong) of Arakoyeo – Gweng Oyuku Dickens has announced initiatives aimed at educating all clan members on enhancing the development of the clan.

During a press conference following his installation on December 16, 2024, at Fresh World Hotel in Lira City, where he was sworn in by Councilor Ponsiano Okello and Advocate Ponsiano Okello, Oyuku expressed that his primary objective as an educated individual is to elevate the educational standards within his clan.

Previously serving as the academic registrar at Uganda Technical College and currently employed by the Ministry of Education as a school inspector, Oyuku stated that he intends to collaborate with fellow clan members employed in various sectors to enhance the educational opportunities for clan members.

Additionally, Oyuku emphasized his commitment to promoting the Lango culture, supporting government initiatives, and preserving the environment.

SP Acen Lillian, the community liaison officer for the North Kyoga Region, urged the leaders of the Arakoyeo Gweng clan to set a positive example for their constituents. She also advised clan leaders to maintain impartiality when resolving disputes among their members to foster trust.

The police spokesperson for the North Kyoga region, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, called upon the leaders of the Arakoyeo Gweng clan to adhere to Ugandan law and to educate their children against taking the law into their own hands.

The event marked the swearing-in of the clan chief (Jan Jagi, Jagi, and Rwode of Arakoyeo Gweng), who hails from various locations within Lango and other regions of Uganda.
