The construction of a dormitory valued at 68.2 million has commenced at Akol Primary School, marked by a groundbreaking ceremony held on Monday, November 11, 2024. The event, organized by Peter Okodo, who is vying for the Kioga North County parliamentary seat, took place Monday 11th.Nov.2024 at the school.
During the ceremony, Julius Etum, the head teacher at Akol Primary School, emphasized that the establishment of a dormitory is part of their strategy to enhance academic performance, asserting that a school lacking in performance holds little value.
Rev. Levi Okello, the parish priest of Akol Parish, remarked that a true leader should remain impartial, highlighting that Okodo’s actions reflect his commitment to the community rather than personal gain.
Rev. Dick Odur from Aputi Parish pointed out that some leaders feign poverty while being affluent themselves, and he reaffirmed the church’s dedication to the project, urging that the work be executed efficiently to prevent accidents.
Local resident Felix Ogwal expressed optimism that Okodo’s efforts would provide lasting benefits to the community.
Kawa Dicken, a member of Okodo’s campaign team, called for vigilance among voters in the upcoming general election, urging them to reject negative influences.
Chief guest Moses Aboko stated that considerations of party affiliation, religion, and culture should be set aside in favor of supporting the most deserving candidate.
He added that Okodo’s contributions extend beyond political boundaries.
Felix Apenyo, the chairperson of LCIII in Abeja Sub County and leader of the task force team, emphasized that the quality of the candidate is more significant than the votes themselves.
The two dormitories, funded by Peter Okodo, will accommodate both boys and girls, with a total cost of 68,200,000, and the project is anticipated to be completed within three months.
