
Dokolo,- Uganda-During a press conference held on Thursday 16th.Jan.2025 in Dokolo District, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party leaders officially announced their intention to contest all available positions in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
The event marked a significant moment for the party as they prepare for what they believe will be a transformative electoral cycle for the region.
FDC’s chairman for Dokolo District, Okello Julius Peter, proudly introduced Acan Pi Ocan as a candidate for one of the key positions.
This announcement is part of the FDC’s broader strategy to ensure they are well-represented across all local councils and the parliamentary level, reaffirming their commitment to serve the needs of the community.
In his address, Okello emphasized the party’s unwavering dedication to fostering development. “As Ugandan voters, it is crucial that we elect leaders who will prioritize progress rather than perpetuate poverty,” he stated. Okello passionately underlined that the FDC is poised to advocate for policies that will uplift citizens and drive sustainable growth across the district.
Addressing the topic of political coalitions, Okello firmly rejected the idea of partnering with other political parties. He articulated that the FDC is a distinct political entity within Uganda, governed by its own constitution. “Each party operates independently, which justifies our decision to participate alone in the 2026 elections,” he asserted, reinforcing the FDC’s strong identity and objectives.
Concluding his remarks, Okello urged all Ugandans to actively engage in the electoral process. He called on citizens to endure the challenges that accompany election periods, asserting that their resilience will be vital in electing capable leaders who prioritize development. “This election is an opportunity for us to shape the future of our nation,” he encouraged.
The next general elections in Uganda are set to take place in 2026, following the tradition of electoral cycles every five years. The FDC is gearing up for a robust campaign season, aiming to secure its place in Uganda’s political landscape.
