Dr. Agnes Atim Apea, the woman Member of Parliament (WMP) for Amolatar district, on 17th July 2024, donated over 200 chickens to ten youth enterprises from the sub counties of Etam, Agikdak, and Namsale, respectively.
While giving the chickens on behalf of Hon. Agnes Atim Apea, Opio Obote, the political assistant to Hon. Atim, said that Hon. Atim’s goal is to reduce the poverty level among households in Amolatar. Opio said that, just as the chicken project was commissioned, 100 pigs were also given to farmers, along with 20,000 cashew nut seeds, all to improve the livelihoods of the common people in Amolatar district.
He, however, appealed to the benefiting youth to embrace the project of keeping chickens so that other youths can also be included.
Opio asked the youth to change their mindset towards development and to stop underutilising the opportunities they receive from leaders like Hon. Agnes Atim and the government.

He added that most people take it for granted when free things are given to them, and they don’t bother even when they lose them, making it hard to change one’s standard of living. Meanwhile, JB Okello, coordinator of Goodies Leisure in Amolatar district, said he will continue networking with other youth so they can also benefit from the project.

He also mentioned that youth focused on development will once again be selected to benefit from poultry keeping. He appealed to poultry farmers to engage in maize farming to supplement chicken feeds. Okello also urged the benefiting youth to encourage other young people to get involved in poultry keeping.
Scovia Nabutono from Agikdak Subcounty thanked MP Atim for supporting them with a life-changing project. She promised to invest in poultry farming and develop further. Additionally, Ocen Solomon from Namasale appealed to other youth to engage in activities that attract leaders’ support.
Ocen also encourages other youth to join poultry keeping as a life-changing opportunity. He added that this will keep youth away from begging and theft. Otema Robin from Etam Subcounty said he is ready to train fellow youth on how to engage in poultry keeping.

He thanked Hon. Atim Apea for consistently assisting people across all categories in their development. A month ago, Hon. Agnes Atim Apea donated Kuroiler chicks to persons with disabilities, all aimed at boosting their income.
