Traffic flow returns to normal along Namasale –Zengebe via Lake Kyoga on Wednesday 31st. July.2024 as MV Kyoga ferry resumes operation.

After ferry breakdown last week UNRA announces MV Kyoga ferry would go on mechanical maintenance starting from 22nd.July to 11th.August 2024.

However according to one Ferry manager Sebwidei Douglas said ferry mechanical problem was rectified on 29th.July.2024.

He added that due to too much demand and closure of Karuma Bridge most people could not travel.

He added that it resumes it three times trip a day with only MV Kyoga ferry 2 on the route.

The ferry that had become alternative routes since the breakage of Karuma Bridge holding over 200 vehicles has since parked at Namasale and Zengebe.

Speaking to one Odongo Sam chairperson business community said he is glad that ferry has resumed operation.

He added that it had become too hard for them to access Kampala business center affecting their businesses.

Also chairperson Taxi drivers association Amolatar –Kampala Robert Wasswa express his gratitude to UNRA for speeding the repair.

Wasswa said most drivers had parked because long alternative of Easter route.

During the ferry breakdown the passengers were advised to use alternative roads through Eastern to Kampala, via Mble and soriti respectively.

This therefore most taxi operators to park their taxis due to cost and lost of passengers.

Beside this additional this government recently highlighted addition of another ferry to address transport issues in island district of Amolatar.

The MV Kyoga Ferry was first introduced on Lake Kyoga in 2012
