Amolatar District, Uganda – July 21, 2024 – The territorial police in Amolatar District are currently investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred on the 20th of July 2024 at approximately 0040 hours along the Amolatar-Acengryeng road.
According to reports, Ogar Emmanuel, a 34-year-old businessman from Kenya and a resident of Tangipai village, Sebei Parish, Buda Sub-County in Buda District, was attacked and robbed while visiting Amolatar District. Emmanuel, who had been invited by his friend Okello David, who has resided with him in Kenya for the past eight years, was en route to Okello’s home village when the incident occurred.
Upon arriving in Amolatar Town, Okello arranged for a boda boda rider with motorcycle registration number UFF 166B Bajaj to transport them. However, near Acengryeng, they were ambushed by three men armed with knives. It is alleged that Okello and the unidentified boda boda rider were complicit in the attack, aiding the robbers in seizing Emmanuel’s personal belongings, including cash amounting to 3.5 million UGX.
The victim was reportedly injected with a poisonous substance on his right arm and forced to consume an unknown liquid, rendering him unconscious. After the suspects fled the scene, leaving Emmanuel in a bush, he regained consciousness around 2000 hours. He managed to find his way to Amolatar Central Police Station (CPS), where he reported the robbery.
Emmanuel was subsequently referred to Amolatar Health Centre IV for medical treatment and is currently receiving care.
A case of aggravated robbery has been filed under CRB: 279/2024. The victim’s statement has been recorded, and efforts to investigate the crime scene are ongoing. The victim was unable to guide the police to the exact location of the incident.
No arrests have been made thus far. The police are appealing to the public for any information regarding Okello David, who is considered the prime suspect. Any leads that could aid in his arrest and the ongoing investigation would be highly appreciated.
