The spokesperson for the North Kioga region, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, has issued a warning regarding significant traffic congestion along the Dokolo-Namasale highway and in Apac, as trucks are diverting to alternative routes via the MV Kyoga ferry.

Okema noted that the closure of the bridge has compelled trucks to rely on the ferry, which, due to the poor condition of the roads, is contributing to prolonged traffic delays.

He also mentioned that one of the ferries at Masindi port is currently out of service, exacerbating the traffic situation.

This information was shared during a weekly press briefing held in Lira City on November 4, 2024.

Okema expressed concern about the upcoming primary seven examinations, highlighting that the deteriorating road conditions may hinder the smooth conduct of these assessments.
