
On October 16th, 2024, Bygon Enterprise Limited successfully handed over the construction facilities of Etam Seed Secondary School to the district. The project, which received support from the World Bank, was awarded to Bygon in September 2022 for a two-year contract worth 2,707,069,270 shillings.
The newly completed building is fully furnished and comprises three blocks of two classrooms, an administrative block, two units of a science laboratory, a multipurpose hall, an ICT/library facility, three blocks of twin staff houses with a kitchen, five stance drainable latrines for boys and girls, a two-stance drainable latrine for teachers, and three blocks of two-stance drainable latrines with bathrooms for the staff houses.
Eng. Okello Bosco Odongo, the Technical Director of Bygon Enterprise, expressed his gratitude to the Amolatar District Local Government for entrusting them with the contract.
He promised to continue delivering quality work whenever given the opportunity. Furthermore, he thanked the government of Uganda, led by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and urged them to consider local contractors for such contracts, not just the UPDF.
In addition, the District Chairperson Hon. Geoffery Ocen expressed gratitude to President Museveni for providing funds to construct Etam Seed and other educational institutions in the district.
He emphasized the importance of utilizing the school by encouraging the community to send their children to study there.
The Chief Administrative Officer of Amolatar, Mr. Mpiiwa Samuel Paul, also acknowledged the efforts of all parties involved in the project.
Local council three chairperson Hon.Odopo Nelson received the structures on behalf of the local community, appreciating Bygon for their tremendous job.”
The deputy resident district commissioner Lyavala Ahamed praised the president of Uganda for the projects that provide opportunities for education for all.
He reiterated the CAO’s message to keep the structures intact for proper commissioning.
The handover of Etam Seed Secondary School serves as an example of what can be achieved when various stakeholders come together to support education and development in their communities.
The school is expected to play a vital role in shaping the future of the district by providing quality education to its students and empowering them to contribute positively to society.
