On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the local government of Amolatar district distributed 490 iron sheets to Abwockwar Primary School and Awonangiro Church of Uganda.
The iron sheets, which were released on August 29th. and delivered on December 5th., 2024, were sourced from the Prime Minister’s office, as stated by Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Luciri Geoffrey.
This initiative aims to support the vulnerable community in Amolatar.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Geoffrey noted that an assessment was conducted to validate the request for these materials.
He further explained that the iron sheets fall under the purview of the Ministry of Northern Uganda, intended to assist institutions and vulnerable populations.
Awonangiro Church received 300 sheets, while Abwockwar Primary School was allocated 190 sheets, with an emphasis on their responsible utilization.
Additionally, District Chairperson Geoffrey Ocen urged both the church and the school to consider using the remaining sheets for roofing the catechist’s house or for the accommodation of schoolteachers.
He acknowledged the fruitful collaboration between district leaders and Members of Parliament.
Chairperson Ocen expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President of Uganda for his support to the Amolatar community through the provision of iron sheets.
Hon. James Auna, representing the woman Member of Parliament, also contenting for chairperson Local council five position expressed appreciation to the district leaders and Members of Parliament, advocating for the responsible use of the iron sheets.
Mr. Olum Patrick, the catechist at Awonangiro Church of Uganda, conveyed his thanks to the Members of Parliament and district leaders for their assistance in providing the iron sheets.
Head Teacher of Abwockwar Primary School, Mr. David Egwang, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their efforts in fostering development in Amolatar.
Furthermore, Assistant Resident District Commissioner Pule Boniface who officially handed over the iron sheet to the beneficiaries thanked the offices of the President and Prime Minister for addressing the district’s request, emphasizing that this was a collaborative effort to ensure the iron sheets serve their intended purpose.
