Updf officer shot self after shooting dead an Indian National at Biko Amolatar

The territorial police of Amolatar have registered a double murder case by shooting of Thirumalesh Itikala 41 yrs old and Indian by nationality a site Engineer/Manager of Royal Velko Joint Venture Ltd and a resident of Mbiko landing site in Namasale Town Council in Amolatar District.

This incident occurred from Mbiko cell, Aweipeko Ward Namasale Town Council Amolator District on the 4th Oct 2024 at around 0930hours.

According to North Kyoga region police mouth peace  SP Jimmy Patrick Okema , It’s alleged that No RA 255450 Pte Tolit James Opio aged 38 yrs old a UPDF soldier attached to Namasale infantry detach and deployed at Royal Velko Joint Venture Ltd sited reported back at work on the 1st Oct 2024, later on the 3rd Oct 2024, it is alleged the the officer went for disco in the nearby trading centre, came 4th Oct 2024 at around 0400hours, surprisingly at around 0900hours, he reported on duty complaining to his fellow guards of less guard allowance paid to him and shortly at around 09300hours, Tolit came in front of the office of the manager  and found him communicating on phone, he shot him in the chest and left through the main gate of the site for about 50meters and shot himself on the neck and died instantly.

The victim was rushed to Amolatar Health Center IV where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“The scene of crime was visited by a team of police officers led by the DPC Amolatar, scene examined and documented,” he said.

Meanwhile an eye witness one Holiver Apio confirmed the officer wake up drunk causing Havok looking for his colleague to shot at.

She added that after failing to get the college Updf he threatens to kill everyone around nevertheless he later shot the Site Engineer three times and missed health worker at Biko health center 111 before shooting himself.

Local residents said for several time officer complained of sleeping in the coolness while his bosses enjoy sleeps and earning millions of monies than him.

It is also reported that the updf officer first escaped backed from the dusty station where he was collected and brought back by his bosses.

Both bodies conveyed to Amolatar Health Center IV pending postmortem examination.

“This is a sad and unfortunate incident; we appeal to supervisors at all workplaces to always engage staffs or security deployed to provide protection to listen to their problems and act accordingly” Okema added.

Royal Velko Joint Venture Ltd, was contracted by the Ministry of Water and Environment to construct a Shs12 billion water pipe system in Namasale Town Council.
