On a significant day for the residents of Amolatar District, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made a notable visit to Archways Agro Farm, owned by Mr. Okello Joel, located in the Acii sub-county of Kongoro Parish.
This visit was part of the President’s ongoing wealth creation initiative and the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM), aimed at enhancing economic productivity across Uganda.
During his address at Mr. Okello’s farm, President Museveni commended the impressive agricultural practices observed on the farm.
He praised Mr. Okello’s dedication and hard work, which serves as a beacon of inspiration for other farmers in the region. The President encouraged him to expand his operations beyond the current 400 hectares to improve grazing conditions for his livestock, thereby increasing productivity.

In a gesture of support for local development, President Museveni provided a tractor and electricity connection to Archways Agro Farm, crucial resources that will enhance agricultural efficiency. Furthermore, he allocated 6 million shillings to the local council for the procurement of a motorcycle and an additional 1 million shillings to ten beneficiaries of the PDM.
These funds are intended to facilitate transportation and bolster local businesses, thereby stimulating economic growth within the community.
In his remarks, President Museveni challenged the people of Amolatar and the greater Lango sub-region to overcome complacency and engage actively in productive work.
He emphasized that idleness is a significant contributor to poverty, urging the community to take charge of their economic destinies through diligence and innovation.
Addressing concerns regarding fishing in the area, President Museveni announced plans to convene meetings with local leaders to formulate effective management strategies for the fishing industry.
He noted the importance of consulting with local elders on this issue and called for patience as the government seeks constructive solutions to fishing regulations.
Mama Jennet Museveni also took the opportunity to commend Mr. Okello for his commitment to agriculture.
She encouraged men to incorporate their wives into farming projects, highlighting the benefits of partnership in achieving greater success in agricultural endeavors.
During the visit, Hon. Betty Amongi, the Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, expressed her appreciation for the President’s role in restoring peace to Northern Uganda, which has played a pivotal role in regional development.
She applauded the decentralization of powers to sub-county levels, a move that empowers local leadership and fosters community-driven development.
Looking ahead, President Museveni’s engagement with the community is set to continue.
On January 28, 2025, he will revisit Mr. Okello’s exemplary farm, which is home to a diverse range of livestock, including 305 local cows, 600 goats, 200 sheep, 32 pigs, and 200 local chickens.
This visits also include interactions with ten successful PDM beneficiaries and local leaders from Amolatar.
The President’s current tour of the Lango sub-region is focused on fact-checking the effectiveness of wealth creation strategies and the PDM, scheduled to conclude on January 31, 2025.
