A total of 37 local council chairpersons have endorsed Peter Okodo’s candidacy for the Kyoga North parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2026 elections.
This coalition, which includes five LC2 chairpersons from five parishes within Abeja sub-county, and local council one, is united in their belief that Okodo is the ideal candidate for leadership.
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, these council leaders convened at the office of the LC1 chairperson in Okwor village, Abeja parish, to address various challenges they encounter.

Nelson Omara, the LC1 chairperson of Abeja village, underscored the necessity for the government to ensure dignified burial arrangements for local council leaders, akin to those afforded to other prominent political figures in the nation.
He also raised concerns regarding the inadequate compensation for LC1 chairpersons compared to their counterparts in higher political positions, urging Okodo to advocate for better remuneration in Parliament if elected. Currently, LC1 chairpersons receive an annual salary of only shs120, 000.
Dickens Etum, the LC1 chairperson of Okwor village, commended Okodo for his responsiveness to their issues, noting that the government often neglects the significant contributions made by local leaders to societal progress.
Leo Obonyo, the LC2 chairperson of Akol Parish in Abeja sub-county, expressed gratitude to Okodo for acknowledging their efforts within the community and praised his contribution of one million shillings to the joint SACCO for LC1 and LC2.
Peter Okodo, who serves as the director of the Jerusalem Institute of Health Sciences, lauded the leadership of the local council chairpersons and recognized their vital role in the nation’s development.
He has committed to continuing his support for local leaders in Kyoga North, driven by the challenges of community organization and the unity demonstrated by the Abeja LCs.
Okodo encouraged other local councils in Kyoga North to emulate the collaborative spirit of the Abeja LCs, reaffirming his dedication to enhancing their circumstances.

On the same day, Mr. Okodo contributed one million Ugandan shillings to assist in acquiring a vehicle for the Archdeacon Awelo Archdeaconry. While presenting this donation, he emphasized the importance of blessings from men of God in all endeavors.
He also highlighted the significance of electing a leader, likening it to sowing seeds for a future harvest.
Additionally, he donated five hundred Ugandan shillings towards the construction of Yahweh Church in Opali Sub County, encouraging unity and collective effort in building the church with a shared spirit.
