As the festive season approaches, Okello Odoki Rwotlonyo, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Amolarr, has issued a significant Christmas message, urging for enhanced coordination on security matters and responsible road usage among all road users.
In his address, Rwotlonyo highlighted the transformative essence of Christmas, particularly as children return home to partake in the celebrations.
He noted that, for security reasons, the situation is classified as critical, and he called upon local leaders from LC1 to LC3 to collaborate whenever issues arise in the community for timely intervention.
He assured that security personnel are prepared to safeguard both children and parents during the festive celebrations of Christmas and the upcoming New Year 2025.
Additionally, Rwotlonyo took the opportunity to remind road users of the importance of safe and responsible road conduct to prevent accidents.
He emphasized the necessity for self-discipline among drivers, encouraging them to adhere to safety regulations, such as wearing seat belts and managing speed, without waiting for police enforcement.
The RDC pointed out several prevalent causes of road accidents and proposed measures to mitigate them. Both motorcyclists and drivers were advised to exercise caution, particularly on the region’s unfinished roads.
Police data from September to November indicates a troubling trend of fatalities in the area: September recorded 15 fatalities and 37 serious accidents, October saw 18 fatalities and 29 serious accidents, while November reported 17 fatalities and 37 serious accidents.
He conveyed a special message of hope and resilience to those experiencing difficulties, urging the community to offer support to those in need. Furthermore, he encouraged residents to embody the spirit of the season in their everyday lives, promoting unity and selflessness as core values for the year ahead.
