Head teacher Aromi primary school to vacate his office over alleged corruption

The alleged corruption scandal involving the head teacher at Aromi Primary School, Mr. Obura Alex, has compelled the school authorities and the education sector to take immediate action.

During a meeting held on Monday, October 14th, 2024, it was discovered that Mr. Obura had embezzled a staggering amount of 7 million shillings.

In response to this grave misconduct, the school authorities requested Mr. Obura to sign an agreement in which he promised to repay the stolen funds by October 28th, 2024.

However, as a consequence of his actions, the management unanimously decided that Mr. Obura should vacate his office and the staff house he was residing in, effective immediately.

The meeting, which was attended by Obote Peter, the education officer representing the district education department, also resolved that a replacement for the head teacher would be appointed with immediate effect to ensure the smooth operation of the school.

However Mr. Obote Peter said, it is crucial to address corruption and uphold integrity in the education sector. ‘The actions taken against Mr. Obura serve as a reminder that such misconduct will not be tolerated, as it undermines the trust and welfare of the school community” added Obote.

He affirms that it is imperative that such cases of corruption are dealt with swiftly and effectively in order to maintain the integrity and reputation of the education system.

Aromi primary school is among the government aided school in Amolatar district Lango sub region.

It has registered a total of over 2000 pupils from primary one to primary seven.
