Amolatar District Roads Committee wants the government to take over the major road rehabilitation of some of the district roads.
While assessing the state of the roads in the district yesterday, the committee found out that some roads such as Aguludia – Anino-olal to Agoga road and Opir to Nalibwoyo Landing Site road was taken up by the water as a result of the rising water level.
They said funds sent to the district are not sufficient enough to rehabilitate such roads.
Dr. Agnes Atim Apea, the Woman Mp, also a member of the committee, says the government should accept to take over such roads and work on it for accessibility.
The two roads are currently not accessible.
The committee also resolved that some of the roads whose work were on going should be completed by the end of January 2025.
They include work on the 14. 5 kms Odongo oyere to Etam Health Centre road, Acii- Katangira- Bangaladesh road, Acii- Ocomboli and Chakwara- AlwalaAguludia roads among others.
Geoffrey Ocen, the district LC 5 chairperson is confident that most of the road works that are not yet completed will be done by end of first February 2025.
He said the district plans to request for more road equipment’s from central government to enable them to complete the work in time.
The district roads committee comprise of all the MPs in the district, LC 5 chairperson, the CAO, RDC DISO, the district engineer, and Secretary Works among others.
