Amolatar district reports drop in malaria cases to 38%

While giving the review to the re oriented taskforce of malaria at the district health board room 0n 6th.August.2024 Angella Akolla regional coordinator of Lango on PMI Uganda malaria reduction activity said Amolatar district has showed high decrease in the malaria cases as of data in the EPI week 29 of 2024 38%

She however attributed the success on IRS, Net distribution, teat and treat, malaria smart home project, among others.

Akolla thanked the leaders of Amolatar who have collaboratively help in seeing that Maleria cases reduce.

Angella on myth of malaria

Asiku Norman a Epidemiologist who is coordinating malaria response in Lango sub region appealed to health department to emphasize on weekly health update so as to help fight malaria and other related diseases.

He added that sanitization should be adopted as well as community dialogue to help the fight against Malaria.

He appealed to health workers to be vigilant on increase of malaria on children above 5 years old.

Meanwhile assistant Resident District Commissioner Pule Boniface cautioned in charges who are always absent at the facilities.

He then praised VHT’s appealing for more training to help them serve the community better.

Assistant RDC asked health department to have special treatment for people on hard to reach areas who are now failing to reach the facilities.

He advsied to have in place a moblie clince in the community.

District malaria indicator puts the district at 33 %OPD, 22% on admission, 11% death due to malaria.

In 2023 Lango registered 232,00 cases of malaria in two month.

Malaria is caused by Anopheles mosquito bite that has gained ground in Africa . its native is in South Asia and Arabian peninsula, it carries two deadly strain of plasmodium parasite-falciparum and vivax.
