Kwania District’s Primary School for the Blind Ikwera Shines in PLE 2024 Results

In a remarkable feat that has uplifted the reputation of Kwania District, Ikwera Primary School unit for the blind has achieved significant success in the recently released 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results. The school proudly announced that 25 of its students attained Division 1, marking a notable milestone in the institution’s academic journey.

In an exclusive interview with our reporter, Joshep Ogwal, the headmaster of the school highlighted the progress made over the past year. “The results from 2023 show 25 students in Division 1, 51 in Division 2, 2 in Division 3, and 3 in Division 4 out of a total of 81 candidates who participated in the PLE,” he stated, emphasizing the school’s commitment to providing quality education for blind students.

The success of the blind unit spurred commendable performances across other schools in the district.

Isaac Opio, the head teacher of Obia Memorial, reported that among the 22 candidates, who sat for the PLE, 9 achieved Division 1 and 13 secured Division 2.

He stressed the importance of parents enrolling their children in appropriate educational levels to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive.

Beatrice Alyenyo, director of Petra Kids Primary School, expressed optimism regarding her institution’s performance.

 She noted that while the results from the previous year did not reflect a first-grade achievement, this year’s results indicated a promising improvement, with the school aiming to rank sixth overall. “Reaching third grade is a significant leap for us, and we are excited about the future,” she said.

Additionally, Tonny Opito, head teacher of Ikwera Negri, shared insights into his school’s performance, highlighting a substantial increase in the number of students passing. “Of the 56 candidates who sat for the PLE, we had 11 in Division 1 and 45 in Division 2,” he remarked, celebrating the positive trend in academic excellence.

Kwania District’s commitment to inclusive education is clear through these impressive results, showcasing not only the academic capabilities of students with disabilities but also the determination of educators and the community to pave the way for all children to succeed.
