Police  in Amolatar District are currently probing a troubling incident of torture involving a 19-year-old female victim and a male relative from Acanmakicinge village.

This event, which took place on November 18, 2024, has garnered considerable attention following the emergence of a video on social media platforms.

The individuals affected, identified as Annet Akwir and her uncle Nelson Opon, were reportedly assaulted by members of the Oumolao clan. As per police accounts, Akwir was asleep when she was awakened by noises outside her residence.

Upon investigation, she encountered her uncle, who requested water and subsequently forced his way into the home.

Later that evening, Akwir’s brother, Solomon Okello, noticed Opon’s bicycle outside and informed clan members, including Okwir Olobo.

It is alleged that the two victims were confined within the house until the following morning, with accusations of sexual assault directed at Opon. On the morning of November 18, Olobo reportedly commanded that Akwir receive 20 lashes and demanded a payment of Ugx 60,000. The local council chairperson, Bonny Ocen, intervened, directing others to impose further punishment.

Law enforcement was alerted, and a torture case has been officially recorded at Amolatar Central Police Station.

Medical assessments for Akwir have been scheduled, and efforts are being made to locate Opon for additional inquiry.

SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Public Relations Officer for North Kyoga, confirmed that the crime scene has been examined, and the investigation remains active.
